Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR)

At AFPD, we display our corporate social responsibility through the contribution to local communities, enhancing their well-being via projects and initiatives and providing humanitarian relief. We recognize the teambuilding and motivational opportunities afforded to our people by helping them to participate in community-related initiatives.

In this part of our website, we describe some of the events we have done so far to spread corporate social responsibility practices throughout AFPD.

2004-2005 CSR Activities

Christmas Celebrations At All Saints Home

AFPD attended the Christmas Celebrations at All Saints Home together with our Managing Director, Mr. Narushige. He put up an impromptu performance of three traditional Japanese pieces with the Taisho-Goto. We also took the opportunity to visit the bed-ridden residents who could not join the celebrations. We went round the wards to distribute the goodie bags and mingled with the residents.

Christmas Charity Booth - "Adopt A Bag"

As we celebrated the festive season with the spirit of giving and caring, an "Adopt A Bag" Christmas Charity Booth was held on 16 December 2005 to encourage employees to do their part for the less fortunate by adopting a goodie bag. The goodies bag adopted by the employees are distributed to the residents of All Saints Home.

Adopt A School Program - St. Hilda's Primary School

AFPD adopted St. Hilda's Primary School as part of the 'Adopt A School' scheme, an initiative by National Environment Agency (NEA). The scheme was launched in April 2005 with the aims of achieving ownership for environmental sustainability, empowerment of industrial partners to initiate environmental programmes as well as create awareness and participation in environmental issues and activities.

As part of AFPD's CSR programme, we carry out some of the events with St. Hilda's as follows:

Clean & Green Week 2004 : Schools Carnival

St. Hilda's Primary School set up a booth that required children to put together jigsaw puzzles of environmental posters. AFPD sponsored the event and helped to man the booth during the exhibition.

Upgrading of St. Hilda's Primary School's Eco-Pond

The students of St. Hilda's Primary School utilize the Eco-pond to learn about aquatic life during their science lessons. After many years of running, the pond needed upgrading as the aqua life was not thriving. Our EHS staffs thereby provided their expertise and assistance to improve the pond design and gave the Eco-pond an overhaul.

Factory Visit by St. Hilda's Primary School

On 29 March 2005, AFPD played host to St. Hilda's Primary School students and teachers. This educational factory visit allowed the students to learn about eco-friendly practices employed by corporate partners. The visit included a tour to the waste water treatment plant, an Emergency Response Team (ERT) demonstration and a short briefing on waste management.

JP Morgan Corporate Challenge

On 27 April 2005, some of our employees participated in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, organised by JP Morgan Chase. Employees participated in this corporate cum charity event by completing the 5.6km course. As elaborated by the event organiser, JP Morgan Chase, they support Asian Civilisations Museum and donated the proceeds to Asian Civilisations Musuem's new educational "ACE" zones for children. This educational programme aim to support JP Morgan's global "Art of Learning" initiative - using art and cultural themes to support education.

Methodist Welfare Services (MWS)

At AFPD, a donation drive was organised in May 2005 to help Methodist Welfare Services. MWS oversees 14 service hubs serving the sick and frail, the elderly, families in crisis, disadvantaged children and youths, and the terminally ill.

Tsunami Donation Drive

In December 2004 , our neighbouring countries were badly hit by the deadly tsunami waves. The waves which claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people, has left many homeless and lost their loved ones. A tsunami donation drive was organised to help those in need immediately after the disaster occured.
